ingredients & substitutions
Pizza Crust
For this fall pizza I used a frozen gluten free pizza crust I got at the grocery store. Most grocery stores have a bunch of gluten free cust options. Whether it be pizza crusts or just frozen pizza dough, feel free to pick whatever your favorite type of crust is.

Organic Medjool Dates
Spinach
Caramelized onions
I love caramelized onions, but I love them even more when they’re sauteed with 1 tbsp of balsamic glaze. These balsamic onions are packed with flavor so don’t skip this step!
Apple maple chicken sausage or vegan sausage
Cheese
The key is to make sure that the cheese you use, you like the way it pairs with the onions! I chose to use mozzarella here since it melts nicely. I added some pools of ricotta arounda the pizza, but I didnt spread it all over.
You can easily use any dairy free or vegan cheese instead of the fat free cheese here. Feel free to use any kind of cheese you might have a home!
Garlic Spread
I got this creamy garlic spread from trader joes. Any garlic spread you find in the grocery store would work. If you even find garlic aioli that would be a fantastic sub too. You want something that has the garlic taste and the creamy smooth flavor.
I do not spread the garlic spread all over the maple fall pizza. I just add pockets to the crust where its a special bite but I do not use it as a traditional pizza sauce that is spread over the whole crust.
Honey drizzle on top

directions
STEP 1
Prepare the crust. Dending on the crust you buy you may need to pre-bake the crust before adding topping.
STEP 2
Next, add the cheese and garlic spread. I like to add the garlic spread in random pools around the crust and not spread all over the crust. Add spinach on top of crust. Bake the crust until the edges are crispy and the cheese is melted.
STEP 3
Slice the onions as thin as possible and add to a fryng pan with 1 tbsp butter or vegan butter or olive oil. Sautee until onions are browned and clear. Add 1 tbsp of balsamic oil or balsamic glaze at the end and cook for 1 more minute. Remove onions and set aside in a small bowl.
Slice the chicken sausage or vegan sausage and pan fry for 4-6 minutes until the edges are browned and crispy.
STEP 4
When the pizza base is baked and the cheese is melted remove from oven. Top with diced dates, chicken sausage, caramelized onions, and drizzle honey on top.
