Ingredients and substitutions
Sauce: Grab a bottle of your favorite Marinara sauce or tomato sauce for this lazy ravioli lasagna recipe.
Pasta: I used gluten free ravioli, just frozen and straight from the bag. Any filling works but ground beef is most classic for a lasagna, right?
Spinach: Chopped fresh spinach is the perfect green layer. I used fresh but you can also make it with frozen and thawed spinach. Just make sure to ring out extra water.
Cheese: I love the texture of sliced provolone cheese in this spinach ravioli bake.
Fresh basil leaves: Optional but they honestly add a super classic flavor that I wouldn’t skip.

Directions (step by step)
Build the skillet: Add the frozen ravioli to an oven safe skillet and top with half of the marinara sauce. Mix everything in the skillet together to fully coat the ravioli.
Top with spinach and cheese: Add the spinach in a layer and then top with the 3 slices of cheese.

Build more layers: Add the rest of the sauce, three more slices of cheese and the basil.
Bake the lazy ravioli lasagna: Bake your spinach ravioli bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until the pasta and filling have cooked through.
Expert tips and tricks
Add more sauce if you need to: If you prefer extra saucy pasta, add a little more marinara to keep the ravioli from drying out.
No oven safe skillet for your baked ravioli? You can just layer everything in a baking dish instead.
Broil the top: To give the top extra golden-brown color, switch your oven to broil for the last 2 to 3 minutes of baking.
Change up or combine the cheeses: Sometimes I’ll swap out the provolone with mozzarella, fontina or even a sprinkle of parmesan for a different flavor.
Boost the protein: For more protein, add cooked ground beef, turkey or sausage between the layers with the spinach.
You can use fresh if you don’t have frozen: Fresh or refrigerated ravioli can be used instead of frozen; just reduce the bake time by about 10 minutes.
Rest for 5 minutes: I find that if I let the lazy ravioli lasagna rest for 5 minutes, it is just easier to scoop up.

Storage and meal prepping
Leftover lazy ravioli lasagna keeps really well in an airtight container for up to 3 to 4 days.
Reheat in the oven at 350F (175C) until it has warmed through, or you can microwave it in short intervals.
This spinach ravioli bake freezes for about 2 months. Let it cool completely so it doesn’t steam up and then transfer portions to freezer-safe containers.
If you want to make it up ahead of eating it, build the layers up to 24 hours in advance, cover tightly with foil or plastic wrap and pop it into the fridge. I just add 10 minutes baking time if I’m cooking it straight from the refrigerator.
Variations
Super cheesy: Add a layer of shredded mozzarella and parmesan along with the provolone. It’s pretty extra but so good.
More meaty: Mix in cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, ground meats, turkey, sausage or shredded rotisserie chicken with the marinara.
Extra veggies: Add sauteed mushrooms, zucchini or bell peppers to the spinach layer in your 5-ingredient ravioli lasagna dinner.
Make it hot and spicy: Stir some red pepper flakes into your lazy ravioli lasagna or use a spicy Marinara sauce.
Add white sauce: Swap marinara for Alfredo sauce or a creamy tomato sauce in your lazy ravioli lasagna recipe for busy weeknights. This is pretty rich-tasting, but it’s SO good.
Load up the herbs: Add fresh oregano, thyme or rosemary with the basil.
