Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread (Gluten-free)

Is chocolate anyone else’s love language?? Because it for sure is mine! I hacked this gluten free brownie mix to create a Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread. It’s perfect for breakfast, dessert or as a healthy snack!

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

This Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread is a healthy dessert or snack option.

Its is gluten free, nut free, egg free, vegan and dairy free.

There is has minimal clean up.

Its a perfect way to get rid of overripe bananas!

It has applesauce to get in some extra healthy fruits!

This banana bread is simple to make a perfect for a quick fall recipe.

INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS

2 Mashed bananas but if you do not have that you can use any mashed food including pumpkin puree, sweet potato puree or butternut squash puree. As long as the texture is similar, it can be used!


This recipe uses vegetable oil but you can sub any kind of oil including avocado oil or olive oil. I’ve made it with olive oil before to get in some healthy olive oil fats and it tastes the same!


This recipe calls for applesauce but if you do not have that you can use any mashed food including pumpkin puree, sweet potato puree or butternut squash puree. You can also use extra mashed bananas.

TASTE & TEXTURE

This Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread is moist and soft. If serving after it has cooled down, I reccomend warming a slice up i the microwave for 30 seconds before eating!

HOW TO MAKE

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Add all the ingredients to a bowl and fully mix.

STEP 2

Add to a loaf pan.

STEP 3

Bake at 350 for 55 minutes. Let fully cool before cutting.

EXPERT TIPS & TRICKS

For the gluten free brownie mix I use King Authur brand. Its dairy free and gluten free.


For the gluten free flour I use Bobs Red Mill 1:1 but I’ve also used cup4cup in baking and its a very similar, successful cup for cup gluten free flour.

If your bananas are over ripe it is OK to freeze them instead of throwing them out. Then you can defrost them when youre ready to create for this recipe. Just leave them out until theyre soft and fully defrosted or microwave them for 30 seconds or until fully soft.

HOW TO SERVE & STORE

If serving the Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread after it has cooled down, I reccomend warming a slice up i the microwave for 30 seconds before eating!

Leftover can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 3 days.

Leftover can be stored in the freezerin an airtight container for 3 months. Toast until defrosted.

Ingredients

  • 1 box gluten free brownie mix any brownie mix is ok
  • 2 tsp gluten free flour
  • 2 mashed bananas (large)
  • 1/3 cup oil any oil is fine. I have tested with both vegetable oil and olive oil.
  • 1/2 cup applesauce add 1 tbsp more if the texture is too dry

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a bowl and fully mix.
  • Add to a lined loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 55 minutes. Let fully cool before cutting.
  • Option to microwave slice for 30-60 seconds before serving
