ingredients & substitutions
Vanilla Greek yogurt (fat-free): This binds everything together. You can use regular Greek yogurt for a thicker and creamier treat. You can use a dairy free yogurt to make this dairy free. Use a vegan yogurt to make this vegan. Use a low fat or fat free yogurt for a low fat treat.
Peanut butter: This adds the peanut flavor. You can use any nut butter you like, such as almond butter or cashew butter. To make this nut free use tahini.
Gluten-free pretzels: These are the base for the bites. You can use regular pretzels if you don’t need the yogurt covered pretzels to be gluten-free.
Powdered peanut butter : This adds extra peanut flavor and helps to thicken the yogurt so it sticks. You can skip it or use crushed peanuts instead.
Sprinkels: Use rainbowl sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles. Make sure they are dairy free, vegan and gluten free if needed.
taste & texture
These yogurt covered pretzels are the perfect sweet treat. They have a salty and satisfying crunch. The yogurt and peanut butter mixture is smooth and creamy, contrasting with the crispy pretzel. The powdered peanut butter, if used, adds an extra layer of peanut flavor. The powdered peanut butter also gives the drool-worthy delight a bit of a crunch.
directions
- Combine the creamy base: In a large mixing bowl, grab your 1/2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of peanut butter. Mix them well until you have a smooth and creamy mixture. You can use a hand blender if needed.
- Prep your station: Grab a tray or plate and line it with a sheet of parchment paper. This will prevent your yummy yogurt pretzels from sticking.
- Get dippin’: One by one, take each of your 1 cup of gluten-free pretzels and dip them into the peanut butter and yogurt mixture. Make sure to coat them evenly.
- Peanut butter explosion (optional): If you’re feeling extra peanut buttery, sprinkle some of your 3 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter over the dipped pretzels. You can even add the powdered peanut butter to a separate bowl and dip the pretzel into it.
- Freeze and enjoy: Place the yogurt covered pretzels onto the prepared cookie sheet or baking sheet and pop them in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until they’re nice and frozen. Sometimes it can take 3-4 hours depending on the temperature and if you added any excess frosting or yogurt. You do not want to use a wire rack because the yogurt will drip off.
expert tips & tricks
- Peanut Butter Consistency: I use a thick and creamy peanut butter for easier dipping and spreading. If your peanut butter is runny, try chilling it beforehand or adding a touch of melted coconut oil to stiffen it up.
- Even Coating: Achieve an even yogurt and peanut butter coating by tilting the bowl slightly while dipping each pretzel.
- Freeze Thoroughly: Ensure the bites are completely frozen for at least 2 hours before serving. This prevents them from becoming soggy and ensures a delightful, cold, and textural contrast.
- Flavor Variations: Explore different flavor combinations! I like to swap vanilla yogurt for other flavors like strawberry or blueberry. Experiment with different nut butters or even drizzle melted dark chocolate for an extra decadent touch.
- Add some chocolate chips or melted chocolate drizzled on top for a chocolate twist. You can also use melting chocolate designed to melt in a microwave-safe bowl to make this a chocolatey delightful treat.
- You can use dairy free chocolate and dairy free yogurt to keep this recipe dairy free. You can find both these options at the local grocery store. Make sure to skip any milk products for the dairy free option.
- Use a red color yougurt for a valentine’s day treat. I love a festive holiday treat. Or you an top with red sprinkles and white chocolate.
- Add some vanilla extract to the yogurt mix if you are using plain yogurt. This will create a great tast the whole family will love without any added sugar.

I mixed my yogurt n peanut butter. No peanut butter powder. But way to think for dipping. Isn’t sticking to pretzels at all. What did I do wrong. It was Greek whole plain yogurt.

Hey! I think the peanut butter powder makes it thicker so it sticks better. But you can definately do it without. I would just make sure to select the thickest yogurt and make sure its a thick peanut butter because if its thin it will not stick as well. I really scooped it with the pretzel to get as much of the mixture as I could.
