As someone who is celiac, lactose intolerant and allergic to almonds, it is so important that all my recipes cater to people with multiple dietary restrictions and/or food allergies! I was diagnosed with celiac disease (the celiac gene) and a lactose intolerance in my early 20s and have been on a mission since to create easy, delicious recipes for others with food allergies!
Ham pizza with hot honey is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for busy weeknights. This pizza is also a crowd pleaser on pizza night! Think white pizza with salty ham and spicy honey on top! A fun spin on hawaiian pizza or pineapple pizza.
This ham and cheese pizza recipe is made on a gluten free crust, smothered with cheese (you can use dairy free if you want!), hot honey ham, arugula and hot honey drizzled on top! This is a gluten free recipe with a dairy free option and a low fat option.
This pizza takes approximately 20 minutes to make and will be your new favorite pizza for pizza night! I like to cut it into small appetizer slices for your next party. ingredients & substitutions
Crust: You can use any store-bought pizza crust. Use gluten-free if needed. You can use thick crust or thin crust pizza. You can also make a homemade pizza crust for this delicious pizza base. Use store-bought dough such as the gluten free pizza dough from trader joes to make this pizza into a fun shape. Use a pizza oven if you have it! I love the trader joes gluten free pizza dough or their frozen gluten free pizza crusts.
Cheese: Mozzarella cheese melts well and adds creaminess. You can use dairy-free cheese if needed.
Garlic Spread: This adds flavor. You can also use a store bought alfredo sauce or cheese sauce.
Hot Honey Ham or Prosciutto: Both are salty meats that add savory flavor. You can use pancetta, another cured Italian ham or canadian bacon. If you don’t have any of these, savory ham or cold cut ham works too!
Mike’s Hot Honey: This is a classic combination of sweet and spicy. You can use sriracha mayo or chili garlic sauce mixed with a bit of honey for a similar taste. You can skip the honey and use a drizzle of olive oil if you wan to skip the sweet and spicy taste.
Arugula: Fresh arugula is a peppery green adds a fresh bite. You can use baby spinach instead.
Breadcrumbs: These add a crunchy texture. You can crush crackers or tortilla chips instead.
taste & texture
This pizza is easy comfort food! It is hot and spicy and warm and gooey. The melted cheese is gooey and warm and makes for a perfect cheese pull. The hot honey on top is spicy and sweet. The pine nuts give the pizza the perfect crunch.
directions
Step 1
Prepare the crust. Dending on the crust you buy you may need to pre-bake the crust before adding topping.
Step 2
Next, add the cheese and garlic spread. I like to add the garlic spread in random pools around the crust and not spread all over the crust. Add as much garlic spread as you want from just a little bit to using it all over the crust the same way you’d use store-bought pizza sauce on a traditional pizza. For best results the more garlic spread the better!
Add the pizza to a pizza stone, pizza pan or prepared baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake the crust until the edges are crispy and the cheese is melted.
Step 3
Slice the ham and pan fry for 4-6 minutes until the edges are crispy.
Add breadcrumbs to a frying pan and sauteed them for 4-6 minutes until they are browned and crisp.
Step 4
Once the Ham pizza with hot honey is baked and the cheese is melted remove from oven. Top with ham, pine nuts, breadcrumbs, arugula and drizzle with hot honey.

recipe variations
- To make this lower carb use a cauliflower crust!
- You can make this Ham pizza with hot honey low fat but using fat free cheese. I use fat free cheese when I am cutting back on fat and watching my cholesterol. You can also use a cauliflower crust as well!
- To make this vegan be sure to use vegan cheese and vegan meat. You can also choose to nix the meat and just keep the cheese, arugula and pine nuts on top! The nuts are crispy so you might not miss the meat.
how to serve & store
Once baked, slice the Ham pizza with hot honey and serve immediately for the best crispy crust. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Wrap cooled slices tightly in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. To reheat, place slices of Ham pizza with hot honey on a baking sheet in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed through.
For freezing, store slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze for 1-2 hours. Once frozen, transfer slices to a freezer bag. When ready to eat, thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat as directed above.
To meal prep, pre-bake individual pizza crusts. Prepare all toppings in advance and store them separately in the fridge. Then I like to assemble and bake the pizza when ready to eat.
