You can use mini slices of bread, large slices of bread, a good gluten free roll or any soft bread. If you are not gluten free you can sub whole grain bread or a good crusty roll. Toast until golden brown. I like to use canyon gluten free bread or schars gluten free sourdough.
Avocado: Perfect source for good for you fats! Pick a perfectly ripe avocado that yields easily to mashing. This is a staple for classic avocado toast. Ripe mashed avocado works best. You should be able to feel a little softness of the avocado by squeezing the outide lightly. If it is hard, it is not ripe. The more ripe the avocado is the easier it is to make avocado mash or smashed avocado. You can mash it up in the skin or in a small bowl. If you don’t like the fresh avocado mashed you can also use avocado slices.
Feta cheese: Use fat free feta or dairy free feta. Crumbled tofu can be a vegan substitute.
Green onions: Chopped chives work too.
Bacon/turkey bacon: Adds a salty touch. Omit for vegetarian or vegan option.
Chipotle mayo: Regular mayo or a spicy aioli work in a pinch. Sub with garlic hummus for a vegan option.
Sour cream: Plain plant-based yogurt keeps it dairy-free. Skip for a lower-fat option.
Onion chips: Crushed regular chips or chopped fresh red onion work too.
Flaky sea salt + Black pepper: a great way to add enhanced taste
