I love an egg in the hole breakfast but instead of cutting the circle out of a slice of bread… I used a bagel that has a hole there naturally! I just popped cracked an egg inside the hole and the air fryer did the rest! This Air Fryer Egg in a Hole breakfast could not get any easier! Plus, its the perfect base to add any of your normal egg sandwich toppings to!

This air fryer egg in a hole bagel is the classic breakfast hack and kicked it up a notch with fiery chili oil, melty cheese, and fluffy everything bagel goodness, all cooked in under 15 minutes.

    why you’ll love this recipe

    • This Gluten Free Air Fryer Egg in a Hole recipe is allergy friendly. I used corn tortillas to make this a naturally gluten free recipe. I used dairy free cheese to make this an easy dairy free recipe!
    • It’s an easy freezer friendly breakfast, which means it is a great option for a meal prep! You’ll have it ready to go when you need to just pull a dinner out of the freezer and heat it up quick. I love to wrap them up in individual portions when storing!
    • These Air Fryer Egg in a Hole bagels uses minimal ingredients and take minimal time.
    • I absolutely HATE doing dishes, so a recipe with minimal dishes to clean up afterwards is ideal for my weekday breakfasts.

    ingredients & substitutions

Everything Bagel: The base of my air fryer egg in a hole bagel recipe! The idea here is that you don’t have to cut the hole out of the bread as in a traditional egg in a hole.

Eggs: I use whole eggs or egg whites. Use vegan egg substitutes for a vegan air fryer egg in a hole recipe.

Cheddar Cheese: Cheddar is my favorit here but american cheese works great too! Craving a different flavor? Swap in crumbled feta, Monterey Jack, or even goat cheese.

Chili Onion Oil: A fun chili and onion flavor. I’m obsessed with the one from trader joes. Use regular olive oil or a drizzle of hot honey for another sauce option.

how to serve, store and meal prep

I like to eat my air fryer egg in a hole bagel straight out of the air fryer for the best texture and melty cheese! I like my eggs hot! Sometimes I add a dollop of salsa, hot sauce, or Greek yogurt for dipping fun.

I store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Separate the bagel halves to prevent moisture transfer and soggy bottoms.

Pop any left overs of the egg in a hole bagel halves back in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 375°F to revive the crunch and melt the cheese when heating up leftovers.
