    WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

    • Use any kind of ground turkey you like. I like to use 93% lean ground turkey, but you can use leaner or fattier ground turkey if you prefer.
    • If you don’t have pork rinds, you can use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Just be sure to crush them up finely before adding them to the burger mixture.
    • You can also add other ingredients to the burger mixture, such as chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, or chopped spinach.
    • This low carb turkey burger can be prepped ahead of time and cooked later.
    • They are also a great way to use up leftover ground turkey.
    • They are a good source of protein.
    • These turkey burgers are lower in saturated fat than beef burgers.
    • They are a good source of vitamins and minerals, such as niacin, selenium, and vitamin B6.
    • Serve the low carb turkey burger on gluten free buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and condiments.
    • Make sliders by cutting the burgers in half and serving them on small buns or rolls.
    • Serve the burgers as part of a burger bar, where guests can choose their own toppings for a party or get together.

    INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS

Ground turkey: Ground turkey is a lean and healthy protein that is low in saturated fat and calories. It is also a good source of iron and zinc. The taste of ground turkey can vary depending on the fat content. Lean ground turkey has a mild flavor, while fattier ground turkey has a more pronounced flavor.

I used 93% fat free ground turkey for the low carb turkey burger but you can use any ground turkey you have. If you don’t have ground turkey, you can use ground chicken or ground beef.

Nutritional yeast: Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast that is a good source of B vitamins, including vitamin B12. It also has a cheesy flavor, which makes it a good substitute for cheese in vegan and gluten-free recipes.

If you don’t have nutritional yeast, you can use grated Parmesan cheese or vegan cheese.

Crushed pork rinds: Pork rinds are a crispy snack that is made from fried pork skin. They are a good source of protein and fat, and they can also add a bit of crunch to burgers. If you are looking for a gluten-free substitute for pork rinds, you can use gluten-free breadcrumbs or quinoa flakes.

If you don’t have pork rinds, you can use gluten-free breadcrumbs for these low carb turkey burgers but they will have more carbs. To keep them low carb make sure to serve them over a salad or greens or even just use half the bun!

Spicy mayo: Spicy mayo is a mayonnaise that is made with hot sauce. It adds a bit of heat and flavor to the burgers. If you don’t like spicy food, you can use regular mayonnaise instead.

If you don’t have spicy mayo, you can use regular mayonnaise or your favorite hot sauce.

    EXPERT TIPS & TRICKS

    • Use ground turkey that is at least 93% lean. This will help to keep the low carb turkey burger moist and flavorful.
    • Don’t overmix the burger mixture. Overmixing can make the burgers tough.
    • Flatten the burgers out before cooking. This will help them to cook evenly.
    • Don’t overcook the burgers. They should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • The burgers can be prepped ahead of time and cooked later. To do this, form the burger mixture into patties and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

    HOW TO SERVE & STORE

I like to serve my low carb turkey burger with shredded lettuce, crispy turkey bacon and dressing all served on a gluten free bun. For these pictured here I used caesar salad dressing on top!

HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE LOW CARB

Make sure to make this low carb turkey burger with pork rinds instead of gluten free breadcrums to keep these low carb. For a lower carb serving option, serve on a bed of greens with a side of your favorite dipping sauce.

To store: Cooked turkey burgers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To freeze: Cooked or raw turkey burgers can be frozen by placing them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze for 1-2 hours. Once they are frozen solid, transfer them to a freezer bag or container and store for up to 3 months.

When reheating turkey burgers, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator and then cook them until heated through.
