why you’ll love this gluten free recipe
- Much faster than take out but all the same flavors! If you’re a pepperoni pizza fan, then this dip recipe will be your new go to for any party, get together or game day! I love taking all of the traditional pizza flavors I enjoy, savory turkey pepperoni to sweet tomato sauce to different melted cheeses and turning them into this easy, one-pan pizza dip recipe!
- The best part about this gluten free dip recipe is that it is a one pan meal…which means only one pan to make it and only one pan to clean up! My ideal situation since I hate doing dishes.
- This recipe is allergy friendly. This recipe is naturally gluten free! No changes are needed to make this a gluten free recipe. You can use dairy free cheeses and yogurt for an easy dairy free recipe!
ingredients & substitutions
Yogurt: I always use plain yogurt here. You don’t want any added sugar or sweetness. You can choose from non-fat, low fat or full fat yogurt. For a dairy free recipe I select a dairy free yogurt, usually one with a coconut base!
Ricotta cheese: Choose from non-fat, low fat or full fat ricotta cheese. For a dairy free recipe select a dairy free ricotta cheese substitute.
Marinara sauce: My favorite is raos marinara sauce. It has the deepest, richest flavor and is gluten free. Most marinara sauces are gluten free but always check before you purchase!
Mozzarella cheese: I use shredded mozzarella for this pizza dip recipe. You can use fresh mozzarella as well.
Pepperoni or turkey pepperoni: For a leaner, good-for-you option use turkey pepperoni on top.
directions
First, preheat the oven to 400°F. You can also use a toaster oven or the air fryer bake setting!
Next, add the yogurt, ricotta, and garlic seasoning to your skillet or any oven-save baking dish. Mix together so fully combined.
Next, top the pizza dip recipe with marinara, spreading it evenly over the dip. Top with shredded cheese, and pepperoni.
Add to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes till bubbly. The cheese should be melted and the pepperoni crispy along the edges.
Remove the gluten free dip from oven and drizzle with hot honey. Top with fresh parsley!
Serve with gluten-free crostinis and enjoy!
expert tips & tricks
Toppings: My favorite part of this pizza dip recipe is switching up the toppings based on what kind of pizza I’m craving! I love to add any toppings to my pizza dip that I would normally order on top of my pizza from mushrooms, peppers and onions to buffalo chicken to bbq chicken!
Can you make the pizza dip in the crock pot?
This Pizza Dip with pepperoni translates seamlessly to cook in the crockpot! All you do is add your base ingredients to your crockpot and stir! I recommend cooking on high for 1-2 hours or on low for 3-4 hours. Once it is heated, remove the lid and top with the mozzarella cheese and pepperonis. Put the lid back on and cook for 15-20 more minutes so that the cheese is melted.
Can you use marinara in place of the pizza sauce?
I definitely do this sometimes when I don’t have pizza sauce on hand…but they are definitely not exactly the same! Pizza sauce has a thicker consistency. This helps to make sure when it is used on pizza that it doesn’t make the crust soggy (mind blowing, I know!) Marinara sauce is a bit thinner. It contains a bit more water and often has chunky vegetable pieces.
Can you prepare the pizza dip ahead of time?
Yes! Of coures! This is the best way to make life easier! I love to assemble the pizza dip with pepperoni ahead of time. I prepare the creamy base and top it with the cheese and pepperonis, then cover it and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. When I am ready, I simply remove the cover and bake it! I always recommend adding an additional 5 minutes or so to the baking time if the gluten free dip is coming directly from the refrigerator as it is a little colder than the room temperature of a just mixed together pizza dip.
Can you make the pizza dip vegan:
Yes! To make this pizza dip recipe vegan, I substitute the ricotta cheese for vegan ricotta cheese, yogurt for vegan yogurt, and cheeses for vegan cheese alternatives. You can use a vegan pepperoni on top or skip the pepperoni altogether.
How to Serve
This recipe can be served alongside my pesto caprese salad or my gluten free crispy chicken caesar salad. I like to serve it hot right out of the oven for the freshest taste.
Storage and Meal Prepping
To store, I let the gluten free dip cool completely before refrigerating in an airtight container for up to four days.
For longer storage, I add into a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 2 months.
Reheating Leftovers
To reheat this pizza dip with pepperoni, add back to the oven and bake on 350 for approx 15-20 minutes or until fully warmed through.
