In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, cool whip, and egg. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop the dough by rounded tablespoons and roll into balls.
Roll the balls in the powdered sugar to coat completely.
Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them for spreading.
Bake for 8 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
